I know there are a bajillion other blogs you could be reading right now besides mine, so when somebody tells you yours is one of their favourites and they’ve discovered all kinds of things from it, well it makes you feel pretty great. Thank you Paméla! B, and thanks to all of you making try small things part of your day. Quite a few of you like to craft and colour, either by yourself or with your kids, so I think Paint by Sticker (out just last week!) is something you’d really enjoy. Just like paint-by-number, each of the pictures is divided into spaces, only instead of colouring them in with paint you fill them with the corresponding sticker. There’s a version for kids too, but I thought my almost-nine-year-old daughter could totally tackle the more detailed grown-up version so we put that one to the test.
The front section of the book has 12 different images to fill in, everything from hot air balloons to a train to the butterfly alight on a flower below, followed by the stickers. Each of the pages are perforated so you can tear them out if you find it easier to work with them that way, or want to display them when they’re finished. (The pictures are 9″ by 12.5″ — I think it would be better if they were 8″ x 10″ so they’re be easier to frame.)
Am I the only one who finds all of those sections a little intimidating? Not my daughter. She just got right to it.
If you want to be really precise, you could use tweezers to place the stickers like the book recommends. It’s a lot of sticking. (Or I guess you’d stay stickering.)
Lily was at it for about two hours on and off throughout the day, showing me her progress one minute and telling me not to look the next. As they do.
Ta da! Oh that turned out so well! We love the 3-D effect. Lily did this one yesterday and started another this morning in her pajamas, so I’d say the book is a hit. And we’ve got more to look forward to — coming in September are Paint by Sticker Masterpieces: Recreate 12 Iconic Artworks One Sticker at a Time! and Paint by Sticker Kids: Zoo Animals.
What do you think? Is it something you or the munchkins in your life would enjoy? Well as it happens, I’m giving away a copy you can try!

My daughter’s done that one too. So pretty! She wants to frame it and hang it in her room.
