try small things

Boxes, books and other small things for homebodies

These are a few of my favourite things + A giveaway!

I know most of you don’t treat yourself as often as you should, so I’ve put together a selection of some of my favourite things that I’m going to send to one of you. “But it’s not even my birthday!” you say. Who says it has to be? You deserve a pick me up. And making one of you happy will make me happy. I’ve had a purple cloud hanging over my head since Prince passed away and keep watching videos of his performances. It’s not making me feel any better. But treating one of you will.ย

May I thank you DavidsTea

I’m picky when it comes to tea (I’m an English Breakfast girl through and through) but I sampled the new organic raspberry jam and lemon pound cake flavours at DavidsTea on the weekend and they were both just lovely. And since we’re all about trying small things here, I thought you might like to brew some too.

May I thank you Campy candle and The 52 Lists Project

I’ve mentionedย Campy candles before — they’re soy wax candles hand poured in Almonte, Ontario by Emily of Cheerfully Made. This one is called Breakfast in Bed and has wonderfully spring-y scents of citrus fruits and gardenia. You might not get much time breakfasting in bed, but you’ll get 80 hours of burn time from the candle.

And you might remember The 52 Lists Project: A Year of Weekly Journaling Inspiration from a giveaway with Penguin Random House Canada here on the blog last December. It’s a gorgeous guided journal that you can start any day of the year. There’s one list per week and a suggested action to go with it: list the ways you get energized and then arrange to do one of those things; list all of the people who brighten your day and do something thoughtful for one or some of these people; list all of your essentials and reflect on how those make you who you are โ€” these are lists for dreamers and do-ers alike.

For those who aren’t familiar with it, tiny beautiful things: Advice on Love and Life from Dear Sugar is a collection of advice columns from Cheryl Strayed, who also wrote Wild. Cheryl’s advice is thoughtful and compassionate, and her personal stories both heart-wrenching and hopeful. Cheryl has gone through some ghastly things and come out the other side stronger for it. I love this book. And I think you will too.

So how do you win all of these lovely things?

To enter, tell me where you follow me and your name there in the comments below. That could be Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or by email subscription (to subscribe, scroll down — there’s a box where you can enter your email address just below the Search box) or all four. You’ll get one entry per platform.

For a bonus entry, feel free to tweet the following once per day, just make sure to leave the url to your tweet in the comments below:
