October is for…

october-is-for-2

What I’m up to this month and a heads-up on some of the giveaways coming your way!

Starting / To paint the dining room, since I didn’t get to it again last month. (This is getting embarrassing.) And I’d love to get going on a simple wall hanging from this book, but there’s the kids’ Halloween costumes to figure out too. (Have you seen Studio DIY’s new costume shop?)

Eating / Allison Day’s morning glory pumpkin muffins (can’t get enough of them!) and roasted butternut squash (can’t get enough of it!).

Reading / In The Company of Women: Inspiration and Advice from over 100 Makers, Artists, and EntrepreneursSolutions for Cold Feet and Other Little Problems, Cabin Porn: Inspiration For Your Quiet Place Somewhere, Hungry Heart: Adventures in Life, Love, and Writing, Sweet! Celebrations: A My Cupcake Addiction Cookbook; Deep Run Roots: Stories and Recipes from My Corner of the South and the October issue of Today’s Parent, which has so many cute ideas for Halloween. Watch for chances to win this month!

Trying / Bounce Canada’s new Bites, The Taste Box (a new Canadian subscription box launching this month), and Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day household cleaners and hand soap (coming to Canada in January) and sharing giveaways for all three!

Wearing / Living in running gear (yes I’m running again!): these super comfy pants, this tee, and a cozy hoodie.

Watching / On Netflix: Under the Tuscan Sun, Joy (out today) and Russell Peters: Almost Famous (October 7). Oh and I’m gonna finish Suits.

Wanting / These chairs (yes pink!), this cookbook (I love Molly Yeh!), this throw (damn you Anthropologie and your ridiculously good-looking everything!) and this soup and sandwich set, which is even cuter in person.

What are you starting/reading/wearing/watching this month?

  1. We just finished watching Luke Cage on netflix. I didn’t realize Joy was on there already. i’ll have to watch it this week!

  2. What a fun post! I just finished Shameless on Netflix so I’m in between shows. I’m looking forward to curling up with a book this fall. Sounds like you’ve got a busy month ahead!

  3. Happy October! while I am missing the summer laziness and ease – I am also loving the changing season! Pumpkin everything, cozy sweaters, bonfires 🙂

  4. I have to get back into a good workout routine. Currently I need to break my Cheez-It routine i have going while working late at night haha I LOVE Under the Tuscan Sun! I lived in Italy for a few years and that movie is my cure to my occasional homesickness.

  5. I am starting to get more organized, and a new diet plan. 😀 Those things are always scary to start… lol Love hearing about your October. And I love the show Suits.

  6. I haven’t figured out our Halloween costumes yet, either. There are so many good ones! It’s so hard to choose! I haven’t heard of Studio DIY. From the website, it looks really cool! Checking it out now!

    • I haven’t started it yet, but I think I’m going to take it to the sack with me tonight and read a few pages before lights out. I know it’s going to be so inspiring! Our dining room is in the middle of the house and we’re in a row house so it doesn’t get much light, but I’m hoping a couple coats of white paint (Benjamin Moore’s Cloud White) over the current light grey with brighten it up! (And hopefully not make it feel cold. I’m a bit worried about that.)

  7. I hear you on the painting. I started getting my kitchen ready to paint |TWO years ago (when my youngest started school). I got the border the previous owners had up taken down (well, not quite. I got most of it down, but there is still some glue left to come off)….2 years ago…THAT is embarassing

  8. Happy October1st! The Sun is shining, the birds are singing and all the leaves are such beautiful colors…it’s my favorite time of the year. The new giveaways sound terrific as usual, sitting outside in my PJ’s at the moment, drinking coffee just started to read “Vendetta” by Bryan Burrough picked it up at a yard sale. I love that Soup & Sammie Set, where are you putting pink chairs?
Have a great weekend everyone & get outside!

    • Happy October 1, Denise! I’m with you — it’s the most won-der-ful tiiiiiiime of the year! Hope you’ve had loads of time to read this weekend and you’re enjoying the book! I’d love the pink chairs for the dining room but hubby would never go for it. *sigh* But maybe one for the bedroom? I could make a cute little vignette stacking books on the seat and hanging a couple prints above and around it. Now you’ve got me thinking! 🙂
