Okay August. Time to turn you around. I’ve spent most of the past week loafing around the house in my pajamas, exhausted and depressed for letting the days slip by with next to nothing accomplished. Blah. Anyone else been the same? Saturday we drove up near Mont Tremblant to pick my daughter from camp and as anxious as I was to get away from making small talk with the other parents and home to familiar surroundings, I think the change of scenery helped.
I’m still dead tired, but I’ve made a small dent in my to-do list with some cooking and cleaning this weekend and feel a bit better for it. Here’s what’s up for August.
Trying / Recipes from three new cookbooks: Kale & Caramel: Recipes for Body, Heart, and Table; Salt Fat Acid Heat: Mastering the Elements of Good Cooking; and Ready or Not!: 150+ Make-Ahead, Make-Over, and Make-Now Recipes by Nom Nom Paleo
Planning / A few surprise outings for my kiddos before school gets underway, like a trip to the trampoline park they love and a new shop specializing in Hong Kong-style bubble waffles with ice cream
Going / Hiking in Gatineau Park with my friends Ann from Kickass Living and Cathy from Cathy Thinking Out Loud
Loving / Spin and barre classes at The Dailey Method fitness studio, which always boost my mood
Reading / Wabi-Sabi Welcome: Learning to Embrace the Imperfect and Entertain with Thoughtfulness and Ease; The Scandinavian Home: Interiors Inspired by Light; and What To Say Next
Wearing / These jeans; this tee; and these sandals, pretty much on repeat
What are you trying/planning/reading/loving this month?
Planning / on auditioning for a role in our theatre’s 2nd play of the season – Parfumerie.
Going / to West Coast Swing lessons every Monday nigh – Yeah dancing.
Loving / well not really – how damn hard it is to learn new dance steps without review- review – REVIEW ” I can’t get it after being shown only 3 times” grrrrr.
Reading / just finished Rich People Problems – by Kevin Kwan – Oh. to have those problems.
Wearing / cool and casual – AH! Summer
and… bravo for being out there with your feelings – “Happiness is like a warm breeze – it only touches us every once and awhile”

Inertia! I get it. Went to the beach yesterday AND refreshed the front garden! Yay. Now for a nap. ;0)
Sounds like a banner day! ☀️
I am looking forward to our road trip next weekend!
It’ll be so nice to spend some time together. 🙂 And I haven’t been to Gatineau Park in ages!
