Five things

I was a guest of Alt Hotel and The Captain’s Boil and received the products in this post free of charge to review. All opinions are my own and from the heart.

You know when you tell yourself you’ll get to it tomorrow and suddenly it’s four months down the road and you’re no further ahead? Uggggggh. You feel crappy, right? Guilty, lazy, maybe anxious — all the things. I’ve been neglecting my fitness since before the holidays and the way I’ve been talking to myself because of it hasn’t been pretty. But that changes today. Today I’m taking a baby step to take better care of me with my first spin class of the year. But before I go (and I’m already in my gym clothes so there’s no going back now, right?), here’s a quick look at some of the things I’ve been doing lately, like enjoying some local eats and drinks at Ottawa’s Alt Hotel last Thursday. The cocktail party at the altcetera café was a chance to sample some specialty cocktails and nibblies made using locally-sourced ingredients.

  1. Five things (and a few extra things) – try small things

[…] I have a girls’ weekend planned at the Alt Hotel here in Ottawa (Cathy and I went to their 5 à 7 earlier this spring), followed by her birthday slumber party here at the house. (Did I mention our […]

I have been putting off my health! Literally sitting in doc’s office after 6 weeks! I started feeling unwell weeks ago! Time to take care of me. Thank you for this blog. It has reminded me that we need time to heal

The food looks amazing! I am horribly lazy when it comes to fitness, though pain stops me quite a bit. Thank goodness my yoga class is literally five minutes away from home.

Both venues put on a good spread. 😋 And you know what they say: location, location, location! I feel like I should give yoga another shot one of these days. I did an eight-week session of Kundalini yoga years ago but it wasn’t for me. What kind do you practice?

Hatha yoga, which is quite gentle. I’ve also tried Restorative Yoga which I loved – just not the price, I’m hoping the senior’s centre will offer it to us. I also was doing Hot Yoga for a while, and loved it too, the class is hard to get into, everyone loves it.

Having now settled in after a great month in Costa Rica, I am enjoying the comforts of home. All my (inside) windows are sparkly clean, the bedroom sheers have been taken down, washed and rehung, and all my back log of theatre work is caught up on. Not too terribly exciting, but It still gives me a great feeling of satisfaction and accomplishment. Home sweet home.
