Five things

I received some of the products mentioned in this post free of charge and name the sponsors below. All opinions are my own and from the heart.

For a couple of years in my teens I worked at the only Tim Hortons in town. The steady stream of customers kept us counter girls hopping, but the instant we caught a break and stopped to chat our manager would waltz through the swingy saloon doors dividing the back from the front and say, “If you’ve got time to lean, you’ve got time to clean.” (Which naturally we resented.) I remembered that this weekend when I had some time to lean, but instead of avoiding the mess like I usually do, I leaned into it and cleaned my little heart out. Then rewarded myself with a good chunk of my book — I’m finishing Calypso — a few episodes of Queer Eye, and a couple of awesome spin classes at The Dailey Method. (This coming Saturday marks the end of the latest 30-day challenge where you try to do as many classes as you can in 30 days. I wanted to do 26 but will probably only get to 17.) And then we had that incredible rainbow last night! Good things are coming.

Like strawberry picking! Cathy and I are going to try to go this week and make some jam with my kiddos. (A jam jam!) Thanks to Bernardin and Yummy Mummy Club for the canning supplies!

We also have a cocktail party at the new Le Germain Hotel Ottawa (owned by the same group as the Alt Hotel Ottawa) and the grand opening of Kusmi Tea at the Rideau Centre.

Today I’ll be requesting images from three books I’ll be reviewing soon on the blog, with a chance to win a copy of two of them! Stay tuned for peeks inside Nathan Turner’s I Love California: Live, Eat, and Entertain the West Coast WayWhat’s Gaby Cooking: Everyday California Food and Superfood Boost: More Than 70 Gluten-Free and Dairy-Free Recipes for Immunity-Building Smoothie Bowls, Green Drinks, Energy Bars, and More!. (Review copies courtesy of Abrams, Manda Group and Thomas Allen & Son.)

July’s Sweet Reads Box arrives this week already. I can’t wait to see what’s inside and share it with you! (Thank you Sweet Reads Box!)

And thank you thank you to everyone who joined Cathy and I at our craft workshop at Indigo Pinecrest last Monday night. The new Community Room is just lovely we hope last week’s event will be the first of many. (You can see all upcoming events on Indigo Pinecrest’s Facebook page.)

What are you looking forward to this week?

I am looking forward to a trip from Richmond Hill on a joint venture with friends to Montreal for my friend’s son’s wedding and while there we, wedding family, guests and hopefully the general public are going to do a flash mob dance…. Not One, Not Two, but three chorographic numbers. Sunshine and wine will help no doubt.
    Happy Canada Day everyone.
