Hey everybody! How’s July treating you? I’m writing from the train home to Ottawa after a few days visiting family in Barrie and Toronto. I hadn’t seen my brother-in-law and his hubby in ages and my own brother and nephew in even longer so a trip down was well overdue. I’d planned to write a few book reviews while I was away but felt soooooo lazy (maybe from the constant eating? you know how one meal blends into another when you’re on vacation) so that didn’t happen.Β
Instead I took my guys down to Kempenfelt Bay one day to play in the park and have lunch from the concession stand. They really REALLY wanted to go in the water but I didn’t pack my bathing suit so my brother- and mother-in-law took them for a swim the next day.
The cookie dough ice cream is THE BOMB.
Channelling my inner sloth with a new book from Thomas Allen and Son, A Sloth’s Guide to Taking It Easy: Be More Sloth With These Fail-Safe Tips For Serious Chilling. You’ll see it again late September/early October when Slothtilda: Living the Sloth Life comes out. (I’m going to give you a peek inside both books and a chance to win a copy of each.)
Yesterday we took in a Jays’ game at the SkyDome Rogers Centre. The Jays came from behind late in the game to beat the Baltimore Orioles 5-4 and sweep the three-game series. (Go Jays!)
This year they haveΒ Jr. Jays Sundays, with all kinds of free activities for youngsters before, during, and after the game. The line-ups can be long but it’s better than asking kids to sit through nine innnings (right?) and my guys and their cousin Chase were thrilled to take home all kinds of cool (free!) Jays swag like pillowcases, plastic snap bracelets and water bottles. Which almost made up for the $82 pizza (okay maybe not that much but not far off).
What else? Saturday my mom took the kids to see Hotel Transylvania 3 (thumbs-up all ’round) and treated me to a pedicure (ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh) while she and the kids did a round of 18 holes at an indoor, glow-in-the-dark mini putt. Fun eh? (For me and for them.)
I’ll be back in this space this week with at least one book review and early next week, a beauty giveaway worth nearly $500 (eeep!) that I think you’ll love.
Until then, tell me what’s new with you? What’s one of your July highlights so far?
Sounds fun! Especially the pedicure without children part π
We had a blissful week-long vacation in Wellington, Prince Edward County at the beginning of the month and next week, after Oβs Minecraft Birthday party on Sunday weβre headed to a cottage on Lake Nipissing with cousins! Life is good!
Busy busy and all good! Happy Birthday to O! πππI can’t wait to see pics from the party. (My guy looooooves Minecraft too.) β€οΈ
Glad to hear you had a great trip! My highlight was a road trip to visit a close friend and her family.
Nicole! πβ€οΈ Isn’t it so nice to have the chance to catch up? So much better doing a road trip in the summer too — unless there’s a torrential rainfall (and we’ve been having more than our share of those) no harrowing winter weather to worry about!
Toooooo busy for words,
Wedding in Montreal – 5 days in that beautiful city
Road trip to Ottawa
Family in from Waterdown, Burlington, Ottawa and Donnacona P.Q.
Social Ballroom dancing

You are one busy bee! So many fun things! πβ€οΈ
That sounds like a wonderful getaway! My highlight so far was a camping trip out in Ontario – the lakes out there put our Manitoba ones to shame! π
And still half of the summer to go! I hope you can squeeze in another camping trip, Suzie! πππ
Trying to get family camping βΊοΈ plans together, and missing a certain blogist buddy!!!
And would I happen to know that certain blogist buddy? π I can’t wait to see you and hear all about your trip! πβ€οΈβ€οΈ
