It’s bloomin’ March! What’s ahead

Well hey there, good lookin’! I hope you’re having a sweet Saturday. I wanted to get this out earlier but I’ve been cleaning like a woman possessed (it rarely happens, so when it does I’ve got to go with it) so here we are. Both of us with a cup of tea (yes?) and a few minutes to ourselves to look at what’s coming up here and elsewhere this month.Β

Have you read Paris in Bloom? The gorgeous new follow-up just arrived yesterday — Georgianna Lane’s New York in Bloom— and it’s like a breath of fresh air. Told mostly in photographs, it’s a love letter to the city’s parks and gardens, floral studios and displays, and market blooms. I’ll have a look inside and a chance to win a copy (thanks ABRAMS Books!). It’s out March 12.

And just in time for spring cleaning, I’ll have some tips and tricks from The Home Edit: A Guide to Organizing and Realizing Your House Goals by Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin, plus a giveaway for a copy courtesy of Potter/Ten Speed. Shearer and Teplin are known for their swoon-worthy pantries, closets and drawers (think functional and fabulous) and celebrity clients (Gwyneth Paltrow, Mandy Moore, Khloe Kardarshian). For an idea of what they’re all about, I really enjoyedΒ Why Celeb Organizers The Home Edit Say They’re The Polar Opposite of Marie Kondo. (And I like Marie Kondo too.) The book’s out March 19.

Before Christmas I won three rolls of Milton & King wallpaper, which I’m thinking of using in the powder room. So far I’m liking this one (‘tho it might clash with the brown/taupe/grey granite) and this one, both from their removable, peel-and-stick line. Have you ever used removable wallpaper? And what do you think of the brick? Would it pass, or does it look too fake? (That’ll be a hard sell with my hubby — he’s all about the real thing, or nothing.) They also have some amazing murals. (This one is trippy.)

Last month’s OatBox had a discount for Evive Smoothie Cubes, which was the first I’ve heard of them. They’re frozen cubes made of fruits and veggies, superfoods and vegan protein that you let sit for a bit, add water to and then shake up to make smoothies without using a blender. The different flavours sound delicious and super healthy, so I was really happy when the company reached out last week to ask if I’d like to try them. I’ll report back! (If you’re curious in the meantime, you can order them by subscription or find them in grocery stores across Canada.)Β Β

I thought I’d do another print giveaway. What do you think of this one? It came with my Happy Mail subscription from A Beautiful Mess, which they’ve since discontinued.Β  😭😭

Those are the highlights. My guys have March Break coming up so we’ll be putting our heads together to come up with a few activities (please let the weather be decent! πŸ™) and I may check out a gym I’ve been thinking about returning to. (Or I may just stay home and watch the new season of Queer Eye. Can’t wait!!) Tonight I’m going to a friend’s to catch up and watch a bit of Suits. It’s been awhile since we’ve watched it together so I can’t even remember where we left off.

Tell me about you! What do you have coming up in March? Anything you’re excited for? (Spring is coming! Hang on!)

  4. My mum is obsessed with Maria Kondo and has been purging and reorganizing her condo based on her tips. She knows that I am disorganized organized and in need of decluttering help so she has been buzzing about booking a flight to visit us just in time for spring cleaning 🧹.

    1. πŸ˜‚ I’ve watched a few episodes now and it’s making me itchy to tidy up too. But to take on someone else’s house — that’s committed. If she comes and takes it on, I’d love to hear how it goes! ❀️

    1. I wish we could grow vegetables! We had a tomato plant one year on our front porch. We got one tomato out of it, and it tasted like sand. 😭 #blackthumb
