I received the Book Lovers Box for free in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Shoana Jensen was on Cityline this week talking about subscription boxes and I was so surprised she didn’t mention Sweet Reads Box because IMHO, it’s one of the best on the market. (If it’s new to you, it’s a Canadian monthly subscription service that delivers a bestselling novel and few treats that tie in to the story, including gourmet goodies and an interesting bevvie.) Their monthly boxes sell out super quickly, and their new limited editions seem to be snapped up just as fast. Today I’ve got a look inside the first Book Lovers Box.
Each Sweet Reads Box comes with a guide to the contents that tells you a little about each item and how it ties in to the story. On the reverse is a quote related to the book’s theme. In this case, it’s a line from C. S. Lewis: “You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.”
And the book: The Library of Lost and Found by Phaedra Patrick. Here’s the description from the publisher:
Librarian Martha Storm has always found it easier to connect with books than people — though not for lack of trying. She keeps careful lists of how to help others in her superhero-themed noteboook. And yet, sometimes it feels like she’s invisible.
All of that changes when a book of fairy tales arrives on her doorstep. Inside, Martha finds a dedication written to her by her best friend — her grandmother Zelda — who died under mysterious circumstances years earlier. When Martha discovers a clue within the book that her grandmother may still be alive, she becomes determined to discover the truth. As she delves deeper into Zelda’s past, she unwittingly reveals a family secret that will change her life forever.
Filled with Phaedra Patrick’s signature charm and vivid characters, The Library of Lost and Found is a heartwarming and poignant tale of how one woman must take control of her destiny to write her own happy ending.
It sounds amazing! And how fitting for a box for book lovers!
Pluck Tea After Dinner Mint Tea
During a dinner party at her Nana Zelda’s, Martha gets a bit tipsy when two suitors are paying her more attention than she can handle. We chose this tea as it would be the perfect finish to any dinner party.
I love my tea and making a cup of loose-leaf tea always feels so luxurious. (Just me? Or is it the same for you?)
Sweetsmith English Toffee Brittle
The novel is set in Britain making a delicious toffee we know the characters would appreciate. Plus, with the toffee apple incident in the book it’s a fun tie-in.
Sweet Reads Box has included Sweetsmith products in a few previous boxes and they’ve all been delicious, so I’m sure this will be too.
Knock Knock Library Stamp Set
Martha is a librarian and would appreciate this old-fashioned stamp set. Any book lover enjoys sharing their favourite reads. Use this stamp set to avoid the sorrow of losing your books.
I put envelopes and index cards in the back of my books when I was a teenager so the kids I babysat could check them out so I absolutely LOVE this set! Maybe my kids will want to use it for some of their books. Or maybe I’ll use it for some of my own. Hmmmmm.
Peter Pauper Press 99 Problems Book Mark
Martha definitely has at least 99 problems. But as the book mark says…books aren’t one of them!
You can never have enough bookmarks, right? This one cracks me up.
SewStudioCo Handmade Book Sleeve
Handmade in Canada, these book sleeves will allow you to carry them in style and keep them protected. The book that Martha finds could have used one of these.
And I was just looking at book sleeves the other day, so I literally shrieked when I saw this one. It’s large enough to fit my paperbacks and I love the polka dot pattern.
I am so, so pleased with the Book Lovers Box. I mean, every Sweet Reads Box is a Book Lovers Box to me, but this one is extra special because it’s all about books. I know so many readers who would just love it.
The Book Lovers Box is sold out, but Sweet Reads Box has a limited edition Men’s Box (just in time for Father’s Day!) and a Beach Read Box that’s sure to be fantastic for summer.
