All-natural, baby: Inside Love Aiki’s clean beauty box for July

I received the Love Aiki subscription box for free in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. This post also appears on A Year of Boxes.

Love Aiki is the first of two new-to-me subscription boxes this month, this one a bi-monthly delivery of four to five full-size organic and natural skincare products customized to your skin type.

Love Aiki July 2019 the box

Love Aiki offers three subscription options (all prices in USD):

  • Gift a box committment-free for $29.99
  • A bi-monthly subscription for $38.99/box
  • A three-month subscription for $104.97/box

Shipping in North America is free for subscribers and $6.95/box for non-subscribers who purchase a gift box delivered in North America. Love Aiki ships worldwide (international shipping costs vary).

Each box includes a card with a brief description of the products enclosed. Mine had a hand-written note from the Love Aiki team on the reverse, which was such a nice touch. I’m not sure if they include the same for all subscribers (maybe just new ones?) but it made a great first impression.

Love Aiki July 2019 All Good Sport Sunscreen

All Good Sunscreen Butter Stick ($16)

80-minute water resistant, with easy wide mouth sunscreen butter stick for no-mess direct application. Smooth and creamy organic coconut oil base moisturizes while creating strong sun and wind barrier.

I’ve never found a sunscreen to rave about but this one might be it. First of all, it’s unscented, which is hard to find. Second, I love the format. The stick is easy to apply and roll up for more and I can throw it in my bag without worrying it’s going to leak. Thirdly (and most importantly), it’s spf 50+ (I burn super quickly so I won’t buy anything less than that), water-resistant and lasts almost a full hour and half before you need to reapply it. All good indeed. 😉

Love Aiki July 2019 BLAQ Whitening Toothpaste in tube

Love Aiki July 2019 BLAQ Whitening Toothpaste

BLAQ Whitening Toothpaste ($20)

Harnessing the powers of three all-natural wonders — activated charcoal, bentonite clay and coconut oil — BLAQ’s whitening toothpaste transitions teeth into a shade of brilliant white.

I’ve been curious about activated charcoal toothpaste for a while and I would have tried this one in a heartbeat if I hadn’t just seen an article warning against it. (The article said the charcoal destroys the enamel on your teeth, among other things.) I’m going to put this one aside until I’ve done some more research. Have you tried this product or something similar? Love to hear your thoughts.

Love Aiki July 2019 Niu Body Pina Colada Sugar Lip Polish

NIUBODY Piña Colada Lip Scrub ($13)

Piña Coladas = summer in a glass. Our Piña Colada lip polish? Just as delicious and also reveals the softest pout possible. Sugar to exfoliate off dead cells and rich oils to moisturize, this baby will quickly become the sweetest part of your beauty routine.

This scrub makes my lips feel soooo soft, plus it feels and smells great. I’d prefer it in a tube that you could squeeze directly on your lips so I didn’t have to put it on with my fingers, but it’s not a big deal.

Love Aiki July 2019 Petal & Leaf Exhale Relaxation Blend 2

Petal & Leaf Exhale Relaxation Blend ($14)

Exhale is a proprietary blend of essential oils to help relax the body and mind. Exhale contains lavender, lemongrass, jasmine flower, yuzu, coriander, and bergamot essential oils.

There’s something in the scent of this blend that I don’t love — a floral scent, maybe the jasmine flower — so I’m going to pass this along to someone who does. I have a few roll-ons made from essential oils and find them really effective so I’d be happy to try another.

Love Aiki BKIND Konjac Facial Sponge in box

Love Aiki July 2019 BKIND Konjac Facial Sponge

BKIND Konjac Facial Sponge ($10)

Each Konjac sponge infused with amazing ingredients cleans your face in one motion and removes all impurities, without the need to add soap!

I received a Konjac sponge in a popular lifestyle box a few years ago but gave it to someone else because the scent was overwhelming. Not so with this one, which smells faintly of citrus. (That I can get behind.) It’s made with active charcoal for oily/acne prone skin (🙋‍♀️), pink clay for sensitive skin (🙋‍♀️) and green clay for normal/combo skin. I feel like I should save it for a road trip or camping (as if I camp, ha ha) or sometime when it’ll come in really handy so I’ll have to get back to you on this one.

Love Aiki July 2019 full contents final

Love Aiki also included a branded Pop Socket as a new-subscriber perk, along with a mini lemon-scented deodorant and a lip conditioner from a previous box. I don’t use a Pop Socket but I’m sure I can find someone who will use, and I’m curious to try their thoughtful extras.

On the whole I feel like this box was a hit and miss for me, but really it’s just the roll-on I didn’t like and the jury’s still out on the toothpaste. So that’s three, potentially four out of five products that were winners. I think the full sizes, free shipping and all-natural ingredients make it a safe bet if you’re looking to try a clean beauty box subscription.

For a discount on your first Love Aiki box, see my post on A Year of Boxes.

What do you think of July’s Love Aiki box? Is it something you’d try?
