For lip beauty lovers: Poutbox April 2021

I received April’s Poutbox in exchange for an honest review. This post also appears on A Year of Boxes.

Poutbox is monthly subscription box for lip beauty lovers that delivers a variety of full-size, cruelty-free products from lip scrubs to lipsticks and everything in between. April’s box is inspired by California sunshine and Hollywood glamour with “a collection of lip goodies that can be mixed and matched for carefree on-the-go looks, as well as true showstoppers that are sure to turn heads.”

Poutbox has two subscription options (all prices in USD):

Poutbox: 3 full-size, cruelty free lip products every month for $19.99/month (free US shipping; shipping to Canada is an additional $7.99/month).

Poutbox Plus (the one I’ve got): 5+ full-size, cruelty free lip products and accessories every month for $34.99/month (free US shipping; shipping to Canada is an additional $10.99/month).

Gift boxes with 8+ full-size, cruelty free lip products and accessories are available for $59.99 each (free US shipping; shipping to Canada is an additional $10.99/box).

Each Poutbox includes a product guide with a picture and description of each of the contents, as well as the retail price. I’ve quoted from it in italics below.

Jazmine Beauty Lip Trio in Coral An adorable 3-in-1 mini lippy set inspired by Southern California. This Lip Trio features a liquid lipstick for all day wear and two complimenting glosses for added hydration and sparkle. Formulated with vitamin E, hyaluronic acid, natural plant oils, and sun protection for soft and supple lips this spring. ($18)

If the question is sparkle, the answer is always yes. Especially now! The more sparkle the better! I love how these glosses make the peach lippie pop. Each one is beautiful alone but together — magic! ✨✨

Poutbox also included a discount for 10% off all Jazmine Beauty products.

NCLA Semi Matte Lipstick in Downtown’s Sweetheart The ultimate movie star red for an all day to all night glam. This rich, semi-matte lipstick applies smoothly with a buttery cream, vegan formula. Made with castor oil and vitamin E, this lipstick is the perfect partner to your new RealHer lip liner to create a full-impact look that will never go out of style. ($16)

This rich, blue-based red is the epitome of glamour, like Charlize Theron floating across the stage in her dancing shoes at the 2013 Oscars. It looks darker IRL and that makes it a nighttime lipstick for me. A timeless hue and incredible staying power too.

RealHer Lip Liner in Be Yourself Be RealHer Line your lips with glided ease. This creamy, vegan formulation is infused with jojoba seed oil and shea butter for smooth application and a natural matte finish. Match with your favourite red lip product, or try with your new NCLA lipstick for a variety of looks from daytime to full-impact glam! ($12.50)

RealHer Makeup Pencil Sharpener The perfect match for your new RealHer lip pencil! This handy sharpener includes a precise blade to bring your makeup pencils back to life, and a cap to capture unwanted shavings. ($2.50)

The lip liner is to the NCLA lipstick what Channing Tatum is to Charlize Theron — the perfect partner for the dance floor, only one of those two doesn’t glide with ease. And I think we all know it isn’t Magic Mike. 🤣 But hot damn they look great together! (Channing and Charlize too.) Poutbox couldn’t have made a better match. And a sharpener! Bonus!

SUVA Moisture Matte Liquid Lipstick in The Unconscious This showstopping liquid lipstick is formulated for all-day hydration. This unique hybrid matte lip formula has the longevity of a liquid lipstick and the comfort of a cream lipstick. Its unique properties provide a rich skin feel while preserving colour uniformity. One smooth stroke of this brilliant colour will last you multiple coffees and endless compliments. Be bold and get ready to WOW! ($14)

This lipstick sounds dreamy but the colour makes is a hard pass for me. Just can’t wear the purple. But I’ll find someone who can.

MILANI Keep it Clean Lip Color Remover The perfect product for liquid lipstick lovers and makeup pros! With just one swipe, this handy lip color remover erases every trace of long-wear, matte and metallic lip products, with no need to scrub. Gentle yet effective, this hydrating formula leaves lips feeling extra soft, nourished, restored and revitalized. ($7)

I’ve never seen let alone used a product to remove lip colour and this one is brilliant! I found it took two applications to fully remove that NCLA red but maybe for other formulas one dab will do. Made my lips feel soft and nourished as promised.

KNC Collagen Lip Mask This all-natural sheet mask is infused with plumping collagen and moisturizing rose flower oil, vitamin E and bitter cherry extract for smooth and hydrated lips in just 15 minutes. ($5)

Poutbox tucked one of these in their January edition and it’s a TREAT! Feels lovely and cool (feels even better if you can get 15 minutes interrupted while you’re lying down with it on) and makes your lips so soft. Mine didn’t look any plumper afterwards tho. 😢

Once again, April’s Poutbox introduced me to several fantastic products — that classic red lipstick and matching pencil, the make-you-sparkle gloss, and a fabulous lip colour remover I didn’t even know existed — all packaged in a beautiful box so bright and cheerful you can’t help but smile. Each of the items arrived in flawless condition. A California dream!

April’s Poutbox is valued at $75.

  1. Yes yes agreed on the purple 💜. Want to pull that off badly but no such complexion. But yes to shimmery corals, and super yes to a slick cleaner and a rich, nourishing mask. Pucker up, buttercup!!!
