I used to think hygge was just for fall and winter but when I learned it’s more than being cozy but also being present, connecting to nature and loved ones, feeling at peace and enjoying simple pleasures (yes all of these things!) it was clear that hygge could be experienced any time of year. So what does summer hygge look like? Growing your own herbs and vegetables. Sharing stories around a campfire. Watching the sun set from your porch with a light blanket and an ice tea. Hygge Canada paired these ideas and others with a selection of hyggelig products in its Hello Summer Hygge in a Box and I’m happy happy to share it with you today. 😄 The box is one of several limited editions released throughout the year in addition to the seasonal (and generally larger) subscription boxes for spring, summer, winter and fall. Let’s look inside.
Like every Hygge in a Box, the Hello Summer Box opens with lovely branded tissue paper blanketing the contents. Tucked inside is a product card with a hello from founders Jill and Lisa, suggestions for creating and enjoying hygge and, on the reverse, detailed descriptions of the contents. (You’ll see the descriptions in italics below.) Jill and Lisa take great care to source products from Canadian makers and small businesses, particularly those that use sustainable practices and materials.

By switching to sustainable alternatives, we can drastically reduce the amount of waste humans generate each year. The SoL Cup is crafted from 100% hand blown glass so that you can enjoy your coffee or tea on the go. This sustainable solution is reusable, lightweight, easy to take anywhere and looks gorgeous. Based in Lloydminster, AB.
I’ve got one of these cups in pink and I love that you can put it in the dishwasher — cuff, lid and all. The glass feels nicer to drink out of than a stainless steel travel cup and the sunshiney yellow is so pretty for summer.
Summer Splash Ice Tea So delicious that you’re going to want to drop everything, put this tea on ice and find a cozy hygge nook on a patio. A fruity and refreshing blend of berries and orange blended lightly with lemongrass on a bed of hibiscus. Lemon Lily is located in Toronto, Ontario, and makes 100% natural and organic teas which are free of artificial flavours, glutens and GMOs. They work with top tea estates and organic farms from around the world, adopting modern and traditional practices that have created some of the most exciting and delicious teas in Canada and around the world.
Living my best life with this fancy ice tea. It’s like a tall glass of self-care. Goes great with good tunes (I’ve got this one on repeat) or a fab book (or both if you can listen to music and read at the same time).

Smells like a summer cabin and campfires and well-worn playing cards. Perfect for a summer box!
Poolside Pink Polish Salons still closed? Want poolside and beach ready toes? No problem, this fun bright coral pink polish will do the trick. This long-wearing polish is “free” from the 5 most toxic ingredients found in traditional polish. Pure Ananda’s formula is solvent-based, not water-based. While water-based polishes have tremendous advantages, they don’t have the durability of a solvent-based polish. This would be considered a “safer” grown-up polish alternative. Made in Morden, MB.
I’ve been wearing this pretty polish for a week and only had to touch it up once. Love the colour and the coverage. One coat is all you need!
Lip Balm 3 Pack Made with sweet almond oil and cocoa butter, dry lips have no chance against this natural lip balm’s rich moisturizing capabilities. To create this natural lip balm, Wild Prairie only use ingredients that are safe for all skin types. Vitamin E helps to protect against dryness long after the lip balm is applied, and sweet almond oil penetrates deep into the lips to help reverse the dryness caused by dehydration, sun, wind and other elements. Located in Edmonton, AB.
Not one, but three! These balms feel so good and smell great too. And all-natural. J’adore!
Jill and Lisa also included a sample slice of Wild Prairie’s lavender soap. I have a thing for artisanal soaps so I’m excited to try this one.
C’mon Cinnamon Nut Mix This nutty medley from Laid Back Snacks is long on flavour with just the right amount of salty and sweet roasted in. Cashews give an extended energy boost and help support the immune system, almonds helps build strong bones, and pecans are heart healthy. Laid Back Snacks is about more than just their products. They are about celebrating delicious food, living a healthy and active lifestyle, and enjoying the small things. Made in Richmond, BC.
We’ve tried several Laid Back Snacks over the years and this one was a hit too. The pecans were a little intense for me (I think there’s some ginger in the mix and I only like it in tiny amounts) but they packed a punch my hubby loved. Highly recommend the co’s Oh Hazel, Nutless Wonder, Orchard Apple Rings and Sunday Cashews as well.
Beeswax Wrap DIY Kit For a fun and eco-conscious hygge way to stay as busy as a bee, try making your very own beeswax food wraps. Whether you’re a wrap-making beginner or a seasoned pro, this kit is for everyone. Made By Bees beeswax formula is a proven blend, essential to making your own quality versatile and long-lasting food wraps. The maker started her beekeeping journey as a hobby with her children. When they spread their winds and left home, she morphed into a “Queen Bee” and Made By Bees took flight. Located on a pesticide-free property just outside of Brockville, ON, they generate sustainable solutions to everyday living and cultivates a bee-friendly haven.
We love our beeswax wraps and this kit looks so fun to try (‘tho part of me doesn’t want to melt the wax because it just looks so pretty). Saving this to make on a rainy summer day.
Every Hygge in a Box includes a recipe card, this one for a summer gazpacho. My hubby’s been watering our friends’ garden while they’re away and I’m not-so-secretly hoping he’ll be rewarded with some of their homegrown tomatoes and spring onions to use in this recipe.
Summer has never been my favourite but taking some time to notice the season’s unique hygge pleasures and making an effort to create more of them has made a huge difference. The Hello Summer Hygge in a Box reminded me how much hygge can be enjoyed this time of year and introduced me to some wonderful Canadian products and makers at the same time.
The Hello Summer Box sold for $89.99 CAD + shipping. Hygge in a Box ships to Canada and the US.
I received the Hello Summer Hygge in a Box in exchange for an honest review.
