Sweet Reads Valentine’s Box 2022 πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

me: *always treating myself*

also me: you know what, I think I’m gonna treat myself today

Valentine’s Day can be polarizing but most years I’ve welcomed it as a happy distraction in the middle of what can be a pretty blue month. So blue here in Ottawa that city council just declared March 14 a Valentine’s Day do-over. If you feel like you or a loved one could use one too, Sweet Reads’ Valentine’s Box (or Galentine’s Box, which has the same novel but different tie-ins) might be just what your heart desires. Like the monthly boxes, each includes a recently published novel, something tasty to drink and eat while you read and a few clever bookish items that relate to the story. Today I’ve got a look at this year’s Valentine’s edition featuring a new romance novel, a mix of loved-themed goodies and some sweets and treats. (A limited number of both the Valentine’s and Galentine’s boxes are still available.) Let’s get into it!

That scene right there is my idea of a Valentine’s Day well spent. ↑ The reverse of the card is a guide to the contents. I’ve excerpted from it in italics below. Most of the items are from Canadian businesses, indicated with a Canadian flag. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

The book is the main event for me so I always unpack it first. And oooh! It sounds so good! Here’s what Sweet Reads had to say about What Might Have Been by Holly Miller.

Have you ever wondered what might have happened if you chose a different path in life or in love? Holly Miller’s novel What Might Have Been does exactly that. Showing us two different directions of Lucy’s life. What would her life be like if she went to London or stayed in her small seaside British town? We loved this Sliding Doors type novel and the concurrent storylines. A great romance novel that asks deeper questions about love, fate and chance.

Right up my alley! Have you read it? What did you think?

Milka Chocolate Bar Β· We have been fans of these delicious German chocolate bars since we first tried them in Europe. We included one bar (from an assortment of flavours) to enjoy with your novel. Easy enough to share, but we don’t blame you if you choose to keep it all for yourself!

Milk chocolate is my favourite but this Oreo white chocolate bar was a delight. Really creamy. And love the large 100-gram size! Enough choco to power through several chapters ‘tho I finished it before I even turned a page. πŸ˜‹πŸ˜¬

Sprinkles (assorted style) Β· Sweetapolita Β· Perfectly crafted Canadian-made sprinkles. Great for topping your hot chocolate and pancakes. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

Sprinkles! Yes! πŸ™Œ Mine are pastel-coloured heart shaped ones called Heart Emoji. So perfect for Valentine’s Day! I’ve been using Sweetapolita sprinkles for years (DYK the founder also has a cookbook?) and love, love, LOVE these ones! πŸ₯°

Rocky Road and Cherry Chocolate Sundae Hot Chocolate Ξ‡ Gourmet du Village Ξ‡ One for you and one to share. Perfect for cozy nights with a great book. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

My hubby was organizing the cupboard we use for crackers, snacks and baking supplies the other day and tried to weed out some of our hot chocolate but I intercepted him before he got too far. I like to have options, you know? These Rocky Road and Cherry Chocolate Sundae ones are keepers! (Sweet Reads has included a number of Gourmet du Village products over the years and it’s good stuff! πŸ˜‹)

Vanilla Gem Pancake Mix Β· South Pond Farm Β· The most delicious way to celebrate lazy mornings, love, and books. Top these pancakes with your Sweetapolita sprinkles and whipped cream. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

Trying this mix on the weekend! πŸ˜‹

I Love You Almost As Much As I Love Books Greeting Card Ξ‡ I’ll Know It When I See It Ξ‡ A sweet and slightly snarky card to your your loved one. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

Better B’ver Shave Cream Ξ‡ Walton Wood Farm Ξ‡ The best way to get ready for date night! We know you will love this 100% natural feminine aftershave. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

The card cracks me up and the shave cream too — if only because it’s totally unexpected. (I think “aftershave” must be a typo.)

Heart Socks Ξ‡ Hot Sox Ξ‡ Celebrate love every day of the year with these fun socks. Cozy and warm, they will be your new favourite reading socks.

There’s something about putting on a new pair of socks that always feels so good. The pattern on these is perfect for Valentine’s Day but mostly I love the medium weight to them (heavy socks make my feet too hot).

Handmade Crocheted Bookmark Ξ‡ Jenn’s Stitches Ξ‡ We’re thrilled to include these hand-crocheted bookmarks. Beautifully crafted, each bookmark is unique and made with love. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

I have a bajillion bookmarks but most of the time I end up using random scraps of paper to keep my place. This one is obviously much cuter and handmade makes it extra special. I just need to keep it handy!

Books are my favourite gift to give and receive for just about any occasion but Sweet Reads takes it to another level altogether by curating what is essentially me time in a box. So many great treats in this Valentine’s Box and the book sounds excellent! Did you buy one for yourself or a loved one? Will you snap up one of the remaining few? If you opt to try a monthly box or subscription, there are just a couple days left to get in on February’s edition.

Each Sweet Reads Box includes Canadian and US shipping. (US customers can order via Sweet Reads’ US site.)

  1. What a great box of V/Day goodies. I love all the yummy eats, and the socks and book mark make me smile. I am not a romance reader, give me murder and mayhem, but for those who are, I bet it is a nice read. As always, your pics are beautiful and your commentary very entertaining.
