Vellabox November 2022

Ever since we moved the litter box from the basement to the main floor this summer so our dear old kitty could get to it easier I worry our house smells poopy. People assure me it doesn’t (because of course I ask anyone as soon as they walk in the door LOL) but I often have a nice candle burning just in case. (And regularly empty the litter, take out the garbage, wash the sheets and leave the washer door open — all apparently key to a good-smelling house.) So I really appreciate Vellabox. It’s a subscription that sends you a scented candle every month (each one chosen with your favourite fragrances in mind) plus a surprise gift from a natural lifestyle brand. All of the candles are made in small batches with 100% soy or coconut wax, top-quality fragrance oils and lead-free cotton wicks. Here’s a look at my November delivery.

Home is not a place, it’s a feeling.

Vellabox offers three subscription options:

The Lucerna Box · One 4 oz candle (40+ hours burn time) + one surprise gift from $12/month

The Ignis Box · One 8 oz candle (80+ hours burn time) + one surprise gift from $22/month

The Vivere Box · One 12 oz candle (100+ hours total burn time) + one surprise gift from $29/month

Monthly, 6-month and 12-month subscriptions are available. Shipping is free on all US orders and shipping to Canada is $5/month.

My Vellabox is November’s Vivere Box.

Each Vellabox includes a product card introducing you to the month’s makers and the contents. I wish the font was a bit easier on the eyes but maybe it’s just me? (I really should get my eyes checked.)

When you sign up to Vellabox you do a short survey to indicate what kind of fragrances you likes and the company selects one of a few potential options to suit your preference. I like citrus and woodsy scents so they sent me the one with that profile, Snug Life by Sunday’s Child. It’s got bergamot, citrus, mahogany, violet, sweet vanilla and musk.

It’s a lifestyle. Chunky knit sweaters, cozy blankets. A warm beverage heating up chilly fingertips. You snuggle in for a movie marathon (accompanied with snacks of course) and this one burning nearby.

I’ve been burning this one off and on for a week and a half and it’s just the kind of scent I like this time of year. Fresh like the cooler temps we’re into now, clean like how I’m trying to get the house before the holidays, and cozy but not cloying like a sweet vanilla can be. We’ve got a pretty large main floor and I find it doesn’t take long to scent every room, so it’s got a good throw.

November’s extra treat is this Morning Calm Hand Lotion by essence one.

Keep dry skin at bay this winter with this creamy, moisturizing lotion. The Morning Calm scent has a combination of spearmint, bergamot mint, and patchouli to help your relax and recenter. Pure essential oils deeply soothe and replenish the natural oil of the skin. Your skin will feel hydrated without feeling greasy or oily after applying. ($10)

I wish we had scratch n’ sniff technology so you could smell this too. It’s got a fresh minty scent like candy canes and a whiff of the woods. I’m using it morning and night and it’s keeping my hands pretty smooth and the hangnails at bay.

Vellabox is pretty simple as subscriptions go, both in terms of the contents and the packaging, but it’s anything but basic. They’ve managed to make it feel both luxurious and practical, which is something I want in a gift (whether it’s for myself or a loved one). All of the products are made with quality ingredients by small businesses and that’s something I feel good about too.

Have you tried Vellabox?

I received November’s Vellabox in exchange for an honest review. This post also appears on A Year of Boxes.

First of… love your photos with the lovely artsy backgrounds. Very funky, very classy.
Years ago, I was gifted with a bergamot au poivre noir candle and it very quickly became my favorite scent., so much so that I kept the label and have never been able to find said candle again. 😦
The burn time of your candles is amazing and who is not going to enjoy a luxurious hand cream that keep your hands feeling hydrated as the winter weather comes upon us.
As always, very much enjoy your commentary, and again. love your pics.
