Artisanal candles monthly: Vellabox April 2023

How does an angel light a candle?
With a match made in heaven.

Vellabox is a monthly subscription that sends you a scented candle and a small surprise gift and itโ€™s one of my faves. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ All of the candles are made in small batches with 100% soy or coconut wax, primo fragrance oils and lead-free cotton wicks.ย The candle you get is chosen with your favourite scents in mind, which you indicate in a questionnaire when you sign up. Here’s a little more about how it works and a look at my box for April.

Vellabox offers three subscription options:

The Lucerna Box ยท One 4 oz candle (40+ hours burn time) + one surprise gift from $12/month

The Ignis Box ยท One 8 oz candle (80+ hours burn time) + one surprise gift from $22/month

The Vivere Box ยท One 16 oz candle (100+ hours total burn time) + one surprise gift from $29/month

Monthly, 6-month and 12-month subscriptions are available. Shipping is free on all US orders and shipping to Canada is $5/month.

Today Iโ€™m showing you my latest Vivere Box.

A small product card tucked in every box introduces you to the candlemaker of the month and tells you a little about the contents. You’ll also find a scannable link to the monthโ€™s playlist, created by Vellabox and available on Spotify. Each playlist is about two hours, roughly how long you should burn your Vivere candleย to prevent tunneling. (Smart, eh?)

April’s playlist is called “Clean Slate” with songs to put you in the mood for fresh starts, new opportunities and a clear mindset. Some playlists I enjoy more than others and this one has so many great tracks. Think “Dog Days Are Over” by Florence and the Machine; “Daylight” by Harry Styles; and “Come With Me” by Surfaces and Sam Ilese.

April’s candles were made by a Portland, Oregon co. called Sea of Roses. Woodsy scents are my favourite, so their Slate candle was an excellent fit for me this month.

A lighter take on a woodsy fragrance that is super unique and perfect for spring! Enjoy during quiet mornings and relaxing evenings. Peppercorn, tobacco, honeycomb, teakwood and sandalwood.

I’ve been burning this one morning, noon and night. We’ve had a few friends comment how good our house smells (that always makes me happy!) and I find it really inviting and fresh. If it came in a perfume or a roll-on I would totally wear it!

Here’s a peek at the surprise gift. Any guesses?

Add freshness and new life to your home for spring! The macrame plant hanger is designed to hold a potted plant in its centre and be hung from a ceiling or other sturdy structure. A charming addition for any indoor space with light — kitchen, bathroom, sunroom, etc. Ideal for smaller pots with an 8 to 10-inch diameter.

I put a fake plant in mine to show you ’cause that’s all I had in this size but if you wanted to pot a plant in your Ignis or Vivere candle jars those would fit perfectly too. I have a few plants I want to propagate so I’m going to try it. It’s cute, don’t you think?

If you’ve often got a candle on the go and you enjoy discovering new scents with a clean burn, Vellabox is a solid subscription to try. The surprise gifts are a fun bonus, and I like the minimal packaging and the reusable cloth bags. Makes a great gift too!

Have you tried Vellabox? What are some of your favourite candle scents?

I received April’s Vellabox in exchange for an honest review. This post also appears on A Year of Boxes.
