Because the little things are everything: Hygge in a Box Spring 2023 🇨🇦

It’s our first spring in our new house and I’m getting such a kick out of seeing our garden come to life. New things seem to pop up every day — tulips here, rhubarb there, and the prettiest pink buds on the magnolia tree. (I didn’t even know we had a magnolia tree! 🙈) It makes me feel content in a way that’s hard to describe. Really it’s a bunch of great feelings all bundled up together. The Danes call it Forårshygge (spring hygge) and it’s that cozy sense of well-being you get from enjoying small pleasures this time of year. Here with all kinds of ideas and some really lovely products to help us create hygge moments all season long is the new spring edition from Canadian quarterly subscription box, Hygge in a Box. (Ta da!) It’s so lovely, I’m excited to show you!

Hygge in a Box is based in Winnipeg, Manitoba and was founded by two sisters. They’ve made it their mission to help others along their hygge journey, not only through their subscription boxes but through corporate gifting, workshops, and other endeavours. (Co-founder Jill Kantor came to embrace hygge as a way of healing, as you can read more about here.)

Each box includes a product card with tips on how to find hygge throughout the season and detailed descriptions of the contents. You’ll also find discounts for some of the small companies featured in the box, all businesses that promote sustainability, use fair-trade, organic materials and ingredients where possible, and/or give back to their communities.

I could go on and on about this month’s inclusions but you’d be scrolling forever so let me just show them to you first and share a few thoughts at the end.

And here’s a peek at the box. So pretty, isn’t it? I’m sorry I didn’t include the tissue paper in these photos. For the spring box it’s a lovely lilac colour dotted with pinecones and makes for a delightful presentation. 😍😍 All of the packing materials (and of course the box itself) can be recycled and reused.

Oh my goodness I love the spring box so much, where to even start?! Wonderful hygge treats for all of the senses. The pancake mix made the fluffiest, most delicious flapjacks we’ve had 😋😋 and I love Mandy’s first cookbook so I’m so excited to have their second to go with. (I’ve made the Tropical Orange Creamsicle Smoothie from this book a few times so far and it’s incredibly delish!) The shower steamers make even a quick rinse feel like a restorative spa treatment and the pretty looseleaf tea and golden strainer are lovely day and night. What else? Oh the headband! I love the spring-y pattern and it’s incredibly soft. And the candle is gorgeous in every way. (Mine is Obsidian and formulated for purifying, growth and cleansing.)

I’ve tried several Hygge in a Box boxes now and I feel like they’ve really helped me see the goodness in each season. It’s among the best of the best as subscription boxes go, from the presentation to the product quality and just the overall thoughtfulness that goes into each one.
