She’s performed for Oprah and the Academy Awards, released records with Weezer and Pitbull, sings on a track on Justin Timberlake’s latest album, has an MBA from Harvard, designed a fashion line sold at Nordstrom and other stores, and just released her first book and accompanying CD. Oh and she called me today from her home in LA. No big deal LOL. Artist, entrepreneur and creative wonder woman Amrita Sen’s Cosmic and Eternal Love: An Everlasting Love Story & Coloring Book is a true labour of love: in addition to writing and illustrating the book, she also wrote, performed and produced the music CD that brings the story to life. Here’s a closer look at the book and an excerpt from today’s interview.
My blogger crush Brittany Jepsen of The House That Lars Built surprised fans this month with her second coloring book, Cactus Coloring Book: Cacti and Succulent Patterns for Beautiful Color Play. As you’d expect, she threw the most ah-mazing release party (in her home state of Utah, dammit dammit) with hands-on workshops for paper and cupcake cacti and how to care for your plants. Brittany sent me a copy of the book and another to share with one of you. Come take a peek!
I’ve been at my wit’s end this week struggling to find ways to entertain the kids (and keep my sanity!) in the last couple of days before they’re back in school. What’s saved us is one of the most simple activities: colouring. And not just the kids, but me too. Penguin Random House sent me a copy of the adult colouring book OUTSIDE THE LINES, TOO: An Inspired and Inventive Coloring Book by Creative Masterminds curated by Souris Hong, and within minutes of putting my pencil crayons to paper I started to feel my frustrations melt away.
