“One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.” — Henry Miller

We’ve got a long weekend here in Canada and I’m looking forward to enjoying some “me time” with a cozy blanket and my Sweet Reads Box. The monthly Canadian book box delivers a new novel, coffee or tea, a treat to eat, and some bookish items tied to the story. I’ve been reading September’s book and it’s SO GOOD. Sweet Reads Box August 2020

I received the August Sweet Reads Box in exchange for an honest review. This post also appears on A Year of Boxes.

I’m not outdoorsy in the least but the past few weeks I’ve been reading on our back deck and the warm breeze and the change of scenery have brought my “me time” to a new level. For years we’ve only had three camping chairs for the four of us (ridiculous, I know) but we finally invested in some outdoor pieces my bestie spotted on Facebook Marketplace and it’s been a game-changer. A me-changer. And now for the first time in maybe ever I’m lamenting the end of summer and wondering what I’ll do without my new refuge. 😭😭 Speaking of “me-time” I’ve got August’s box of “me time delivered” for you here, voted Canada’s Best Book Box two years running, dooo-dooo-dooo-dooo, Sweet Reads Box! The monthly subscription box includes a new novel, something to eat, something to drink and a few bookish goodies oh-so-cleverly tied to the story. Herewith the reveal! Sweet Reads Box July 2020

I received July’s Sweet Reads Box in exchange for an honest review. This post also appears on A Year of Boxes

Book hang-o-ver (hang-oh-ver) noun
1. The inability to start a new book because you are still living in the old book’s world.
2. The inability to function at work/school because you were up all night binge-reading.

Sam cannot make it to the committee meeting today as she has a book hangover.

If I’m looking rough today it’s not for nothing. I was up late last night finishing the delicious new psychological thriller from July’s Sweet Reads Box and I’ve got a book hangover in the worst way. Or maybe in the best way? I mean it’s a good problem to have all things considered. But I’m certainly not the sharpest tool in the shed today so it might be a good idea to keep this one on the shorter side. If it’s new to you, Sweet Reads Box is monthly book box that delivers a new novel, coffee or tea, a sweet or savoury snack and some bookish goodies tied to the story. They also offer several limited edition boxes throughout the year (I just ordered the Cat Lover’s Box for August and they have a Dog Lover’s one too). Let’s get to July’s.
