The Good Lane Fall 2021 πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

The Good Lane is a new quarterly lifestyle subscription box designed to help you discover brands that are making the world a little kinder. Think beauty, accessories and home goods that are ethically made, sustainably sourced and cruelty free. I’m excited to show you the Fall edition! I think you’re going to love it. πŸ’š

The Good Lane is based in Alberta and currently ships across Canada. Each box includes 5 to 8 products from conscious brands that are putting people and the planet first. The Fall Box is valued at $120+.

Single box — $90 + $10 flat-rate shipping.

Seasonal subscription — $85/box including shipping, paid seasonally. Save 10% on your first subscription order with the code FALL10.

Annual subscription — $340/year including shipping, paid annually. Use the code FALL10 to save 10% on your first subscription order.

Let’s look inside!

Each box is beautifully packaged in recyclable materials and includes a product card with detailed descriptions of the contents (below in italics). While the green print on the card isn’t hard to read, it would be easy to miss the pale pink text on the reverse that says your purchase supports the Canadian Cancer Society. (Part of the proceeds of the box go to a different charity each season.)

The Good Tee Infinity Capsule Scarf (Toronto, ON) The Good Tee is fairtrade cotton certified and only uses certified GOTS organic cotton and eco-friendly dyes. They also recent received their Bcorp certification meaning they are truly committed to using their business as a force for good. The Good Tee is completely transparent about their supply chain and makes a conscious effort to minimize their environmental impact, from biodegradable product tags to recycled boxes for packaging. Your Fall Box includes their Infinity Capsule Scarf that can be worn 20+ different ways!

So soft, so versatile! Outside it keeps the chill off my neck (and the scratchy collar of my wool coat) and inside it just makes me feel cozy cozy. I love the navy but it also comes in lavender, light brown and seafoam green.

Pen on Paper Greeting Card (Kelowna, BC) In each TGL box there is a featured artist, your Fall Box includes a beautiful greeting card by Canadian artist Jennifer Delaney who owns the brand Pen on Paper Co. Jennifer creates wonderful minimalist hand-drawn pen and marker ink sketches. You can view more of her work at penonpaperco.com.

I have a weakness for stationery and this card makes my knees buckle just a little bit. 😍😍 Anyone else wish they could reach into the sketch and scratch this fella behind the ears? The card is printed on a beautiful stock with a luxurious linen feel and I love how the company name is embossed on the back of the envelope. Impeccable attention to detail.

Good Juju Laundry Detergent Eco-Strips (Vancouver, BC) Tired of the mess of measuring and pouring out your laundry detergent — these laundry detergent strips from Good Juju are the perfect solution! The pre-portioned strips contain exactly the detergent needed for one load of laundry. They are easy to use and don’t leave a mess, plus no plastic bottles are required. Each 30-strip envelope prevents one 1-litre plastic jug from entering the landfill, and results in a 94% reduction in transport-related greenhouse gas emissions, compared to liquid alternatives. As is that wasn’t enough to love, the eco-strips are also hypoallergenic, biodegradable and vegan friendly.

I recently saw these in a Chatelaine article and was curious to see how they compared to another similar brand we’ve tried and really like. Some people recommend using two strips for larger loads but I’ve only ever used one and our laundry comes out of the wash looking clean and smelling fresh. (The summer rain fragrance of these ones is mild and pleasant.) Easy, effective and so much better for the environment than typical brands.

Pure Anada Natural Mascara (Morden, MB) Pure Anada Cosmetics are handcrafted in the beautiful Canadian prairies. They carefully select ingredients and focus on organically grown and ethically produced. Your Fall Box includes their black Natural Mascara which is paraben-free, gluten-free, mercury-free and formulated with ecocert-approved ingredients.

I’ve yet to find a mascara that can hold a candle to my usual, non-natural brand but this one impressed me. Made my lashes look long without first using a lash curler and kept them separated even after a few coats. No clumps or fall-out and easy to remove. I don’t see a lot of volume but it still ticks a lot of boxes.

Fersk Self Care Bath Bombs (Toronto, ON) As the weather cools down and we enter Fall it is the perfect time for a relaxing bath. Your Fall Box includes two natural hand-packed bath bombs from Fersk Self Care, a small woman-owned business. Each bath bomb is individually wrapped with great care, all packaging is environmentally friendly, including using biodegradable cheesecloth and recycled paper labels. Fersk Self Care also partners with TreeEra and with every purchase made a tree is planted.

Some bath bombs knock you over with fragrance so the light scent of the Hibiscus Citrus one I tried was refreshing. It’s made with organic hibiscus, orange essential oil and grapefruit oil. My skin felt super soft for hours after the bath and me, so pampered. I did have to reach back into the tub afterwards to wipe out the hibiscus leaves but that was easy enough. Really looking forward to trying the other bomb, a blend of Himalayan pink salt, eucalyptus and cypress called Calm Escape.

Big Bee, Little Bee Build-A-Straw Reusable Silicone Straw (Huntington Beach, CA) This isn’t your standard reusable straw, this is a super compact buildable straw that will easily pack conveniently in almost any purse. Each straw contains four sections — three straight and one angled — so you can create any straw height you like to accommodate any size cup or bottle! They come apart making them great to take on-the-go and very easy to clean. Ditch the plastic straws!

I don’t know what it says about me that I thought this little kit looked like a lot of work (oh wait! I do know! It says I’m lazy! 😬) but now that I see how quick and easily the straw comes together I want everyone to try it. I love how you can make it as short or as tall as you like and that it includes the perfect little brush for cleaning. (It’s dishwasher safe too.) Also available in white, green and blue.

The Good Lane is a stand-out for me for several reasons:

βœ… It introduced me to some kinder brands that produce products with the high quality I’m looking for

βœ… Every item in the box is one I’ll readily use (okay it took a minute with the straw but now I love it!)

βœ… Attractive, ready-to-gift and eco-friendly packaging

βœ… Each purchase helps people and organizations in need

What about you? What do you think of The Good Lane’s Fall edition? Are there any particular brands or products you’d like to see in future boxes?

And because it’s worth repeating, save 10% on your first subscription to The Good Lane with the code FALL10. πŸ’š

  1. Well first off, now I too have a brain worm about 50 lovers…..
Love the scarf, looks very versatile X 20 and cozy. The stationary is indeed fun and I think the laundry strips are the best idea. No plastics – that won’t break down for years – and cardboard into the recycle I also have my fav mascara but would be willing to give that one a try. Being a bathtub person, the bath bombs would always be a hit with me… The straw… not so likely but again avoid the
plastics. Pretty nice package and as always, love the commentary and the pics.

  2. Great conscious gifts! Yes that scarf is lovely indeed and versatile !! And it’s particularly well photographed. 🀣

  3. Great box! I particularly love the scarf (now singing 20 ways to wear your scarf to the tune of 50 ways to leave your lover) and the portable go-anywhere straw! And who doesn’t need mascara (well it’s all you need these days with masks πŸ˜‚). Lastly – I like the eclectic mix of products as well!
