“Get your hands dirty to free your mind” with le club terracotta’s DIY pottery kit ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ + A giveaway!

Much ink has been spilled on the connection between the state of flow and happiness and that’s exactly what today’s box is all about. “Get your hands dirty to free your mind” is the slogan for le club terracotta‘s DIY pottery kits. Made in Quebec, each one comes with everything you need to create, paint and seal whatever you can dream up in clay. The company was kind enough to send me a kit and mes amies, some of my most relaxed, most present, most contented moments this past week were spent trying it out.

Each DIY Pottery Kit includes:

๏ฟซ simple, illustrated instructions and project ideas

๏ฟซ 2 bags of wet clay (enough for a couple of small projects for 1 to 2 people)

๏ฟซ 5 tools for sculpting and cutting the clay

๏ฟซ 3 brushes

๏ฟซ white paint

๏ฟซ sealer

Kits with two bags of clay are $75 each. Additional clay is available to buy separately or as part of the kit, along with paints (this set of six colours) and discounts for purchases of six boxes or more (great for parties or knocking out all of your Christmas shopping in one go!).

Le club terracotta ships across Canada and the US.

The clay air dries so it doesn’t need to be fired but it also isn’t safe for food so any dishes and cups you make should be for decorative use only.

Clay and paint or a world of possibilities?

I worked with my hands to make dead-simple clay beads but my bestie put all of the tools to good use for her more intricate projects.

The variety of brush sizes made them perfect for painting larger surfaces and the tiniest details and we had lots of paint leftover for future projects. (The primary colours were also just what we needed for mixing our own hues.)

A few supplies you might want to dig out before you start:

๏ฟซ plastic tablecloths or garbage bags to cover your workspace (the clay isn’t nearly as messy as we expected but it makes for easy clean up)

๏ฟซ trays to work on (makes it easier to move your projects when needed)

๏ฟซ wax paper to set your clay on to dry after painting (helps prevent the clay from sticking and the paint from peeling coming off)

My beads weren’t the most challenging undertaking — what was the word my teen used? ๐Ÿค” Oh right! BASIC ๐Ÿ˜‚ — but so relaxing. The slow rolling of the beads was was like clay meditation. Very soothing and satisfying. Who knew such a simple thing could do that? (It would have to be to do so many. ๐Ÿ˜‚ I was on a roll. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚)

I used a paper straw to punch out the holes for the string.

โ†‘ My bestie Cathy’s handiwork. Tell me what day can’t be improved with a little pumpkin. ๐ŸŽƒ

Cathy also made this adorable little lady. ๐ŸŒต

The clay will start to turn light grey as it dries. Allow 24 to 48 hours to dry before painting.

She’s sparking some major joy for me right now. ๐ŸŒต

Fall decor doesn’t get much easier than a bowl of pumpkins, acorns and pinecones.

Last but not least, my beads and Cathy’s candle holder. I’m so happy with how they turned out!

Our kit provided enough supplies to make about 50 beads, three little pumpkins, a candle holder, a wee cactus and several hours of wonderful memories with a friend.

Itโ€™s the answer to all those times you want to do something but you donโ€™t know what, or when you want a thoughtful gift but you can’t think what. Share it with a friend for some fun self-help or invite a bunch of friends (if it’s safe to do so) and make it a group therapy session. Le club terracotta’s pottery kits make a great family activity or a project the kids can do on their own.
